Our Story
Hey there my name is MaKayla and I am the creator of Goldilocks & Co. The story of how my small business came to be begins in 2019, when I was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer called a phyllodes tumor. Before my surgery my plastic surgeon said that there was a non-profit group called the breasties that I should look into.
“the mission of the breasties is to empower those affected by breast and reproductive cancers by igniting strength and positivity through connection, free retreats, wellness activities, events and an all-inclusive resourceful online community. the hope is to spread the message that whatever you are going through — you are not alone.”
They have always been there through the best and worst parts of my journey. All I wanted to do was be able to do as much for them as they have done for me. Since they are a non-profit I would be able to fundraise and donate money to this amazing group. This is when the thought of making scrunchies and donating money from each sale to the breasties crossed my mind, and Goldilocks Scrunchies was born!
